Accounting Manager Job Description

Vaco is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our accounting department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing complex accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, and year-end audit preparation.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Develop and present financial reports to ownership and executives as needed.
  • Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues, ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage and execute month-end and year-end close process.
  • Coordinate complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments.
  • Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
  • Perform annual audits and provide recommendations for improving procedures and systems for initiating corrective actions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in the construction industry highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, and databases (ViewPoint Vista expertise a plus).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or supervisory role.
Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory):
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
