TerraCycle Tax Director Job Description

TerraCycle is an international leader in innovative sustainability solutions, creating and operating first-of-their-kind platforms in recycling, recycled materials, and reuse. As a Tax Director, you will play a critical role in ensuring TerraCycle's compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage all TerraCycle tax matters, including compliance, reporting, tax planning, and strategy.
  • Facilitate and manage the accurate and timely preparation and filing of the company's state, local, and federal tax forms, as well as tax filings for international locations.
  • Monitor changes to tax laws and regulations, and lead appropriate updates to TerraCycle's policies and strategies.
  • Analyze the impact of key transactions and decisions on tax.
  • Manage and facilitate tax inquiries and audits by the relevant authorities.
  • Work with internal and external legal counsel and external auditors as needed.
  • Develop and maintain the required record keeping support for all tax matters related to the company's business activities.
  • Identify and address opportunities for improvement and areas of risk within existing processes, driving towards Sarbanes-Oxley as the Company prepares for a potential initial public offering in the medium term.
  • Support special tax and legal related projects.
Requirements:
  • CPA or JD/active law license highly desirable.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a tax accounting role and at least 2 years of experience in a management role.
  • Experience working in public accounting or corporate tax department.
  • Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of US federal, state, and local taxation for corporations.
  • Knowledge of IFRS (GST/VAT in Canada/EU) and transfer pricing documentation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Direct experience with ASC 740.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks independently and as a team.
  • Strong management skills.
