Project Kuiper is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing global broadband connectivity through a network of 3,236 satellites positioned in low Earth orbit (LEO).

The mission is to provide fast, affordable internet access to unserved and underserved populations worldwide.

Project Kuiper is dedicated to bridging the digital divide by delivering reliable broadband services to a diverse clientele, including individuals, businesses, government entities, and organizations in areas lacking dependable connectivity.

The success of Project Kuiper hinges on the quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, throughput, and security of the products delivered.

If you are looking for a dynamic and fast-paced work environment; if you excel at tackling complex challenges with significant impact; and if you relish the opportunity to build innovative solutions from the ground up, this role could be the perfect next step in your career.

To thrive in this position, you must be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Integration Technicians by organizing, delegating, and executing daily tasks, as well as facilitating onboarding and training for new team members.
  • Uphold stringent quality and safety standards for both products and personnel.
  • Oversee the integration and testing of Kuiper satellites and various intricate subassemblies within a cleanroom and ESD-controlled environment.
  • Generate daily reports on integration activities.
  • Manage rigging and critical lifting of large, sensitive equipment.
  • Utilize precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, multimeters, optical inspection devices, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Interpret and create engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Execute tasks according to established procedures, specifications, and testing instructions, even when they may be ambiguous or incomplete.
  • Conduct functional and environmental testing on units, including advanced troubleshooting operations.
  • Employ software programs for test control.
  • Review and inspect your work and that of others post-completion to ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards as outlined in drawings and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, design, and testing engineers to develop, document, and complete activities, including opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned to maintain an efficient, safe, and effective work environment.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

A Day in the Life:

The Lead Integration Technician is accountable for directing a team of technicians in the assembly, testing, and shipment of production Kuiper satellites.

This team will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering, testing, quality, and operations teams to deliver Kuiper production hardware at the final integration and testing phase, prior to launch.

This role necessitates expertise and experience across various domains, including mechanical assembly, avionics integration, rigging, electrical checkouts, and environmental testing.

You will be responsible for ensuring that critical tasks related to the construction of Kuiper satellites are executed with exceptional quality, workmanship, safety standards, and timeliness.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience

  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical hardware assembly, testing, and/or installation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - 2+ years of experience leading technicians in a manufacturing setting

  • Experience in the aerospace, automotive, medical device, aviation, military, or other high-reliability operational environments.
  • Experience in a fast-paced production setting with ambiguity.
  • Familiarity with FOD, ESD-sensitive hardware, and cleanroom protocols.
  • Experience operating forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment (including prior certifications).
  • Proficiency in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity.
  • A proven ability to read, write, create, and comprehend technical drawings, work instructions, test plans, and standard operating procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical, optical, and mechanical systems, antennas, functional testing, and satellite components.
  • Capability to utilize a wide range of precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
