About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our Optical Inter-Satellite Link team at Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and verifying software systems to control and monitor high-speed optical communications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop highly reliable flight software, ranging from low-level control to autonomous system behaviors for RTOS and/or bare-metal environments.
  • Develop supporting test, validation, and simulation software infrastructure.
  • Participate in the full life-cycle of software development, from requirements definition and design all the way to deployment and maintenance in orbit.
  • Work closely with software, hardware, and systems engineers to support design, build, integration, test, and deployment of high-speed optical communication systems.
About the Team

You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team of top-notch engineers and collaborate closely with the optical, electrical, firmware, and opto-mechanical development teams. We are looking for an outstanding software engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.
  • Experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems.
