Project Kuiper is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing global broadband connectivity through a network of 3,236 satellites positioned in low Earth orbit (LEO).
Its mission is to provide rapid, affordable internet access to unserved and underserved communities worldwide.Project Kuiper strives to bridge the digital divide by delivering swift, cost-effective broadband services to a diverse array of clients, including individuals, businesses, government entities, and organizations in areas lacking reliable connectivity.
This position will collaborate closely with mechanical and controls engineering teams to devise innovative solutions that transition this program from research and development to design validation and full-scale production.
Key Responsibilities:- Fabricate, assemble, modify, or repair specialized tooling and testing equipment.
- Engage directly with engineering teams and technicians to provide design feedback, focusing on design for manufacturability (DFM), project execution, and commissioning.
- Oversee the maintenance of the GSE Tooling work area and manage the inventory of welding and fabrication supplies.
- Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and ambitious deadlines.
- Support various development, production, and facilities teams as necessary.
- Possess a valid driver's license and meet Amazon's driver eligibility criteria.
- Be capable of lifting up to 49 pounds occasionally, standing or walking for extended periods (8-10 hours with breaks), and frequently pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching, with or without reasonable accommodation.

A Day in the Life: The Manufacturing Specialist will leverage their unique fabrication skills to address engineering challenges.
You will collaborate closely with Engineers, Technicians, and Machine Shop personnel to create and deliver custom fabricated fixtures and devices.
About the Team: The Kuiper Tooling Ops (KTO) team comprises a diverse group of Technicians dedicated to providing mechanical support for Project Kuiper.
Our strength lies in delivering innovative and effective solutions in real-time.Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a custom welding and fabrication environment.
- Proficient in manufacturing precision components using manual machining equipment (mill/lathe).
- High school diploma or equivalent certification.
- At least 2 years of experience in reading, interpreting, and executing mechanical drawings.
- 1+ year of experience with CAD software.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with rigging and lifting operations.
- Degree or certification in a related field.
- Familiarity with CNC conversational programming.

Our compensation reflects the labor costs across various U.S. geographic markets.
The base salary for this position ranges from $73,900/year in our lowest geographic market to $165,200/year in our highest geographic market.
Compensation is determined by several factors, including market location, and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
