Retail Sales Representative

Job Summary:

As a valued member of the Howell Machine team, the Sales Associate will play a critical role in assisting customers in finding and purchasing the required merchandise in a retail environment while encouraging customers to purchase products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Customer Interaction: Greet customers and ensure their needs are met, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices to effectively assist customers.
  • Financial Transactions: Handle money responsibly, including operating cash registers, counting money, balancing cash drawers, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, and making deposits.
  • Product Assistance: Perform price/product lookups and assist customers in finding the products they need.
  • Store Maintenance: Zone merchandise and maintain the cleanliness/neatness of the store for presentation.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Company Policies: Required to learn and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Security and Safety: Watch for/recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
  • Housekeeping and Maintenance: Perform housekeeping duties and unload merchandise from trucks.
  • Supervisory Guidance: Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Some retail and/or customer service-related experience.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and colleagues.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Responsibility: Maintain a pleasant working environment while providing excellent customer service, even during complications and/or conflicts.
  • Working Conditions: Ability to maintain a pleasant demeanor even when being treated unfairly by customers.
  • Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, climbing, lifting, pulling, carrying, and motor coordination.
