We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with exceptional needs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
- Provide direct instruction, accommodations, and modifications to students with exceptional needs, as outlined in their IEPs.
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed to ensure students meet their academic and functional goals.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their child's progress and involve them in the IEP process.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education and to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) certification in Special Education (Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities).
- Experience working with students with exceptional needs, preferably in a public school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, while maintaining a focus on student needs and outcomes.
