Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Manager to join our team at Boston Properties. This role will be responsible for managing all financial matters related to our portfolio, including reviewing, auditing, and analyzing financial statements. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting and commercial real estate, with excellent leadership and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate initial and ongoing training for Senior Accountants and Accountants
  • Review and approve quarterly audit binders and assist in the close of the books process
  • Review financial statements for lender, joint venture partners, and third parties
  • Analyze and interpret tenant leases and assist in the implementation and analysis of complex transactions
  • Ensure tenants are billed all rental and additional charges per their lease
  • Participate in the initial review and presentation of quarterly revenue, NOI, and depreciation variance analysis to executive and senior management
  • Perform regional straight-line rent responsibilities, including regenerations, reconciliations, and coordination with lease administration
  • Assist in the preparation of materials and presentation of the annual business plan meeting and quarterly reforecast meetings
  • Review and post journal entries
  • Manage departmental and regional timelines
  • Ensure all accounting complies with all legal documents related to assigned properties
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting required
  • A minimum of five years of accounting experience required, with previous experience in commercial real estate settings or related industries preferred
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel required
  • Proven leadership skills, including initiative, accountability, and a shared sense of commitment to the organization
  • Ability to interact with co-workers, tenants, or vendors in an articulate, courteous, and professional manner
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing demands
Physical Requirements

This role involves work of a general office nature, including operation of a computer, fax, and printer, as well as tours throughout the property portfolio, which may require walking and climbing stairs.

Internal and External Contacts

This position interacts extensively with all levels of employees within Boston Properties and with a variety of external audiences.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the VP, Regional Controller, who provides supervision and guidance, and monitors work on a regular basis, including performance reviews.
