Position Overview:

Under general oversight, the Customer Service Agent 2 will engage in a range of client service tasks at designated locations that do not necessitate certification as a peace officer. This role involves interpreting and conveying the stipulations of state and federal vehicle regulations relevant to Port Operations. Responsibilities may include screening and assisting with the weighing of commercial vehicles, with a preference for candidates holding a weight master certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess vehicle registrations and associated documents for authenticity.
  • Issue permits, calculate and collect applicable fees and taxes, and manage related cash reconciliations.
  • Ensure the security of cash receipts and various accountable forms.
  • Regulate commercial vehicle traffic entering and exiting the state through permit issuance.
  • Handle ongoing public interactions, including face-to-face communication with challenging individuals.
  • Work across three shifts with potential rotation as needed.

A background investigation is mandatory, and overnight travel may be necessary.

Job Duties:

  • Respond to inquiries regarding motor vehicle administrative rules, regulations, and related statutes.
  • Resolve customer issues and provide information to various governmental and transportation entities.
  • Facilitate motor carrier customer interactions, follow-ups, and information referrals concerning enforcement programs.
  • Issue relevant permits, route over-dimensional loads, and collect necessary fees and taxes.
  • Prepare daily cash reconciliations and deposits, identifying when enforcement actions are warranted.
  • Compile and submit reports in accordance with agency requirements.
  • Communicate essential information regarding motor carrier regulations through various means.
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and training sessions as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 2 years of experience in administrative or operational support roles, with a preference for candidates holding a weight master certification.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

A valid driver's license is required. Candidates must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program.
