Position Overview:
Under general oversight, the Customer Service Agent 2 will engage in a range of client support functions at designated offices that do not necessitate an Arizona P.O.S.T certified peace officer. This role involves interpreting and conveying the regulations of state and federal motor vehicle codes relevant to Port Operations. Responsibilities may include screening and assisting with the weighing of commercial vehicles, with a preference for candidates holding a weight master certification.
Key responsibilities include verifying vehicle registrations and other pertinent documents for authenticity. The agent will issue permits, calculate and collect necessary fees and taxes, and manage associated cash reconciliations. Ensuring the security of cash receipts and various accountable forms is a critical aspect of this role.
The position regulates domestic and international commercial vehicle traffic entering and exiting the state through permit issuance. The incumbent will frequently interact with the public, including potentially challenging situations with upset individuals. Assignments may involve rotating shifts as required.
Core Responsibilities:
- Address inquiries related to motor vehicle administrative rules, regulations, and applicable statutes.
- Resolve customer issues and provide information to representatives from other states' motor carrier entities, transportation personnel, and law enforcement agencies.
- Facilitate motor carrier customer contact, follow-up, and information referral services associated with enforcement programs.
- Issue relevant permits, route over-dimensional loads, and ensure appropriate fees and taxes are collected.
- Prepare daily cash reconciliations and deposits, identifying when enforcement actions are necessary and referring issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Compile and submit reports in accordance with agency requirements, communicating essential information through various means with colleagues, supervisors, and the public.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Preferred Qualifications:
At least two years of experience in administrative or operational support roles, with a preference for candidates holding a weight master certification.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
A valid Arizona driver's license is required. Candidates must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
