Senior Merchandising Executive

We are in search of a Senior Merchandising Executive to become a vital part of our Product Management division. This senior-level merchant position plays a crucial role in defining the overall product assortment strategy, overseeing inventory management, and guiding the product lifecycle for a business characterized by a high volume of SKUs across various product categories and in-house production. This role presents significant opportunities for career advancement and professional development within our organization.
In this dynamic position, you will harmonize strategic foresight with practical execution, managing essential daily functions such as assortment planning, pricing strategies, promotional markdowns, purchasing plans, allocation strategies for stores, gross margin enhancement, and comprehensive inventory oversight. Your contributions to product innovation and business growth will be substantial, focusing on fulfilling consumer demands while distinguishing our brand in the marketplace.

Reports to SVP, Product Management & Commercial
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish product requirements by classification and hierarchy to align with corporate goals, managing the product assortment within a financial framework that meets or surpasses sales and margin objectives.
- Oversee inventory levels based on open-to-buy metrics, inventory turnover rates, sales forecasts, and essential budgetary/financial indicators.
- Collaborate to create and implement a thorough product development strategy, including competitive evaluations, in-depth consumer insights, and the identification of new product categories or segments to foster profitable growth.
- Analyze key competitors and comprehend consumer perceptions of both Tandy and its rivals to devise a product strategy that meets consumer expectations and sets us apart.
- Build and nurture relationships with current and prospective vendors/suppliers through effective communication, collaboration, and strategic planning.
- Translate product strategies into actionable initiatives, working in partnership with cross-functional teams (marketing, store operations, etc.) to convey significant ideas, key investments, and in-store execution plans.
- Exhibit leadership qualities, inspiring and mentoring team members at various levels, while effectively managing relationships across the organization.
- Leverage a robust product development background with a proven history of success in direct importing, product expertise, sourcing, assortment optimization, retail planning, and supplier management.
- 10+ years of comprehensive merchandising experience.
- Demonstrated success in product development, including direct importing of goods, sourcing, assortment optimization, retail planning, and supplier management.
- Experience in a direct-to-consumer sector.
- In-depth understanding of retail environments, with experience managing complex categories in an omni-channel context.
- Expertise in maintaining inventory levels based on financial performance metrics.
- Proven ability to align product requirements with corporate objectives and manage assortments within financial targets.
- Innovative thinker, capable of synthesizing consumer insights, market trends, and competitive analysis to inform product decisions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with both external and internal business partners.
- High-energy, self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities, adept at navigating ambiguous situations in a high-performance environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to manage, motivate, and mentor team members at all levels and maintain relationships across the organization.
- Willingness to travel (both domestically and internationally), approximately 10% of the time.
- Balanced creative and analytical thinking abilities.
- Strong negotiation capabilities.
- Proficiency in learning and utilizing internal systems.
