We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to enhance our engineering team. Key Requirements: Candidates must be prepared for extensive travel, potentially up to 80% both domestically and internationally. This is a full-time, permanent position.
ResponsibilitiesThe Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for:
- Planning, budgeting, and executing various manufacturing equipment projects across multiple locations.
- Acting as the project manager for initiatives including plant expansions, production line setups, and efficiency improvements.
- Designing moderately complex plant layouts and adapting existing equipment configurations.
- Training plant personnel and leading small project teams.
- Serving as the liaison between engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Traveling frequently, primarily within the U.S. and Canada.
- Providing leadership and support for equipment and infrastructure installations.
- Implementing preventive maintenance programs.
- Conducting hands-on troubleshooting and training for equipment and processes.
- Reviewing AutoCAD drawings and maintaining mechanical and electrical documentation.
- Identifying root causes of operational challenges and collaborating with engineering and plant resources to resolve issues.
- Supporting engineering efforts in research and development of new equipment and processes.
- Managing project budgets and equipment procurement.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience in plastic extrusion or injection molding (preferred).
- Strong teamwork and project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
A minimum of a 2-year Associate's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Plastics Engineering, or a related field is preferred, along with at least 2 years of project management experience. A background in a manufacturing environment for at least 3 years is advantageous.
Physical RequirementsCandidates must be able to:
- Work safely around plant equipment and in varying climate conditions.
- Perform physical labor for extended periods, including tasks requiring full body motion.
- Stand and remain mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours.
