Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to enhance our engineering team. Key Requirements: Candidates must be prepared for extensive travel, potentially up to 80% both domestically and internationally. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Responsibilities

The Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Planning, budgeting, and executing various manufacturing equipment projects across multiple locations.
  • Acting as the project manager for initiatives including plant expansions, production line setups, and efficiency improvements.
  • Designing moderately complex plant layouts and adapting existing equipment configurations.
  • Training plant personnel and leading small project teams.
  • Serving as the liaison between engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Traveling frequently, primarily within the U.S. and Canada.
Essential Duties Include:
  • Providing leadership and support for equipment and infrastructure installations.
  • Implementing preventive maintenance programs.
  • Conducting hands-on troubleshooting and training for equipment and processes.
  • Reviewing AutoCAD drawings and maintaining mechanical and electrical documentation.
  • Identifying root causes of operational challenges and collaborating with engineering and plant resources to resolve issues.
  • Supporting engineering efforts in research and development of new equipment and processes.
  • Managing project budgets and equipment procurement.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in plastic extrusion or injection molding (preferred).
  • Strong teamwork and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Educational Background

A minimum of a 2-year Associate's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Plastics Engineering, or a related field is preferred, along with at least 2 years of project management experience. A background in a manufacturing environment for at least 3 years is advantageous.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to:

  • Work safely around plant equipment and in varying climate conditions.
  • Perform physical labor for extended periods, including tasks requiring full body motion.
  • Stand and remain mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours.
