Job Summary:

The Clinical Nurse-Angio Specialty functions in an academic medical center with Level One Trauma designation, ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) receiving center designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center accreditation.

As a skilled nurse, you will demonstrate advanced knowledge in invasive interventional procedures for stable and unstable inpatients and outpatients of all ages. You will apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expand your knowledge base and clinical skills.

You will scrub, circulate, and/or assist physicians in performing simple and complex diagnostic and interventional procedures, including line placements, drain placements, biopsies, vascular stenting, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt procedures, embolizations, and neurodiagnostic procedures.

You will perform the nursing process independently and serve as a role model in multidisciplinary age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care delivery methods, problem solving, documentation, and communication.

Consistently demonstrating an expert level of clinical practice, you will collaborate with leadership in the development of standards of practice. You will also contribute to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population.

Education and Experience:
Associate of Science Degree in Nursing is required. If hired after July 1, 2019, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. A minimum of one year of experience in critical care, emergency department, cardiovascular lab, or interventional radiology is required.

Knowledge and Skills:
You will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and confined spaces. You will demonstrate proficient competencies in critical care nursing and angio-interventional radiology procedures. You will also be able to adapt to various clinical settings.

Able to:

You will be able to speak, read, and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality. You will also be able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program.

You will be able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment, perform technical patient care activities, relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others, and be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies.

You will also be able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure, lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate, accept direction, think critically, work independently with minimal supervision, perform basic math and statistical functions, manage multiple assignments effectively, organize and prioritize workload, work well under pressure, problem solve, recall information with accuracy, pay close attention to detail, distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care, hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place, see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents as necessary to position, and discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications:
An active California RN License is required. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification are required. AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required by end of introductory period. A valid driver's license and automobile insurance are required at time of hire.
