Position Overview: The Financial Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the daily functions of the finance department, ensuring precise and prompt financial reporting, adherence to accounting principles, and effective fiscal management. The ideal candidate will possess a robust accounting background, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a meticulous attention to detail.
This role will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer of the parent company and will receive guidance and support from the Fractional CFO (former Controller) during the initial phase. The Financial Operations Manager is expected to progress to the role of Divisional Controller in the near future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Generate and evaluate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Guarantee timely and accurate dissemination of financial information to senior leadership.
- Establish and uphold accounting policies and procedures.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Facilitate the annual budgeting process and regular financial forecasts.
- Track budget performance and conduct variance analysis.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring precision and efficiency.
- Manage cash flow and optimize working capital.
- Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and other regulatory standards.
- Coordinate and oversee external audits and internal control assessments.
- Manage multi-state sales and use tax submissions.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop finance staff.
- Promote a collaborative and high-performance workplace culture.
- Process Enhancement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to boost efficiency and accuracy.
- Utilize technology to optimize financial operations.
- Special Projects:
- Assist with strategic initiatives and special projects as needed.
- Provide financial insights to inform business decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, SOX, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Experience with ERP system implementations.
- Familiarity with multi-state sales and use tax submissions.
- Knowledge of job costing and inventory management.
- Experience in manufacturing and service sectors, particularly in power generation and/or electric vehicle charging solutions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities to manage and inspire a team.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
