Position Overview

Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center is seeking a Chief Physician to oversee our Adult Medicine division. Our organization is dedicated to enhancing community health with a focus on the Quadruple Aim. Role Summary

The Chief Physician is responsible for delivering high-quality medical care, exercising sound clinical judgment, and adhering to best practice standards and evidence-based medicine. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities including practice development, staff training, and quality enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality medical care while maintaining confidentiality regarding all patient and staff matters.
  • Lead medical services at designated care sites, ensuring clinical excellence, operational effectiveness, and a patient-centered approach.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director to identify and implement department-wide performance improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers (APPs) as necessary.
  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of medical personnel.
  • Work with the Medical Director to provide coverage for colleagues.
  • Coordinate with nursing leadership and collaborate with other specialties to enhance service recovery.
  • Engage in the development and promotion of CSHHC Adult Medicine practice locations in partnership with marketing and outreach teams.
  • Provide consultations as required by agreements with community partners.
  • Educate patients on preventive healthcare and chronic disease management, or refer them to appropriate resources.
  • Consult with other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate referrals for various healthcare needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Medical Degree from an accredited institution, board certification/eligibility in a primary care specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Practice), completion of residency training from an accredited program, valid unrestricted state license, valid unrestricted DEA certification, and familiarity with managed care protocols, PCMH requirements, and electronic medical records. CPR certification is mandatory.

Experience: Board Certification or Board Eligibility is required. Connecticut Licensure is necessary. The ideal candidate will be a respected clinician with leadership capabilities, able to inspire a team and provide operational guidance. Experience in quality improvement, financial management, operational oversight, and personnel management within a clinical setting is advantageous.
