Position Overview

As a vital member of our retail team, Store Associates engage in various responsibilities within the retail environment of a commissary store. This role involves assisting customers, managing inventory, and ensuring a smooth checkout process. The specific tasks may differ based on the store's needs and management directives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist customers by providing information regarding product pricing and locations, as well as handling large or heavy items.
  • Utilize an electronic checkout system to accurately process transactions and provide correct change.
  • Engage in various tasks related to the handling, preparation, and maintenance of grocery and produce stock.
  • Monitor stock levels and collect inventory data to support the Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) system.
  • Prepare and manage documentation for ordering commissary items, reconciling invoices, and submitting requisitions.
  • Adhere to security, safety, and sanitation protocols.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume must clearly demonstrate that you possess the qualifications described below. Experience, education, or a combination of both may be used to qualify.

Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or related work indicating the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for this position.

OR

Education: Two (2) full years of successfully completed education beyond high school at an accredited institution.

OR

Combination of experience and education: Calculate the combination by dividing total months of experience by 12, then dividing semester hours by 60 and adding the two percentages. If the total equals 100%, you meet the minimum qualifications through a combination of experience and education.

Additional Requirements:
  • Physical requirements: (1) Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods. (2) Ability to lift, push, pull, carry, and handle items weighing up to 40 pounds independently and occasionally over 40 pounds with assistance.
  • Current federal civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since being selected for a non-temporary appointment from a competitive examination register.
