Role Overview: Manager, Retail Sales

The Retail Sales Manager is pivotal in driving the growth of Brother Mobile Solutions' (BMS) sales revenue and market presence within the North American retail sector. This position works in close collaboration with the Director of Sales to implement innovative sales strategies aimed at achieving the company's financial objectives. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing sales pipelines, forecasting, and generating sales reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy Implementation
    • Develop and execute the comprehensive sales strategy and tactical plan for the retail vertical.
    • End-User Engagement:
      • Identify and engage directly with end-user clients to uncover both immediate and long-term sales opportunities, building a robust sales pipeline.
      • Present solutions that address business challenges with clear ROI and value propositions, while understanding competitive positioning.
      • Foster and maintain BMS' demand, preference, and loyalty among end-user accounts.
      • Collaborate with the Marketing/Lead Generation team to follow up on Sales Qualified Leads.
    • Channel Partner Collaboration:
      • Work closely with channel partners in the retail sector to enhance penetration into their customer bases or direct opportunities to the appropriate partners for closure.
    • Stay informed about market trends and demands to proactively adjust sales strategies in relation to revenue streams.
    • Serve as the subject matter expert for the retail vertical, providing support to team members as needed.
    • Achieve and surpass quarterly and annual sales targets.

Reporting, Budgeting, & Forecasting

  • Deliver timely and detailed sales reports reflecting revenue achievements against quotas and pipeline status.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts to the operations team as part of the demand planning process.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to identify sales trends, improvement areas, and potential risks.
  • Oversee and manage the sales budget, ensuring compliance with financial targets and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is required.
  • A Master's Degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred.

Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a sales professional with a proven track record in generating new business and expanding existing accounts is required.
  • Experience in end-user sales, particularly in technology-based solutions, is essential.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the retail market is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and execute long-term strategic plans.
  • Proven capability in crafting innovative sales strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sales management practices, including forecasting, goal setting, and resource management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a talent for building relationships.
  • Proficient in delivering impactful presentations and mentoring team members.
  • Strong negotiation skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with the Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) market and experience in retail sales is preferred.
