Job Title: Power Electronics Hardware Development Engineer

GE Vernova is seeking a highly skilled Power Electronics Hardware Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Power Electronics team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-performance power electronics systems for industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and simulate overall power electronics systems for industrial applications such as marine propulsion, oil and gas, metals rolling mills, and power generation.
  • Specify electrical components, including cables, filters, inductors, capacitors, transformers, and converters, for the overall electrical power plant.
  • Write project artifacts, including hardware and commissioning instructions.
  • Design new voltage source inverters (IGBT or SiC) and new thyristor converters (rectifier LCI).
  • Support the project team on hardware tasks as needed.
  • Support drive test and validation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Strong theoretical and mathematical background, with ability to understand new concepts and learn fast.
  • Creative, passionate, team player.
  • Green Card holder or US citizen.
  • Autonomous, curious, with ability to understand new concepts and learn fast from experienced engineers, integrate into a team.
  • Major courses on power electronics converters (MMC, multilevel VSI, LCI, DC drives, or cycloconverter), variable speed application, STATCOM, or active filtering.
