Position Overview


The Ultrasound Technologist specializing in Fetal Echotherapy is responsible for conducting ultrasound examinations and fulfilling all duties associated with a staff sonographer within the department.

This role involves performing specialized ultrasound procedures for Maternal Fetal Medicine patients, including but not limited to fetal echocardiograms, amniocentesis, amnio reductions, chorionic villus sampling, and intraoperative ultrasounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and execute pre-surgical and post-surgical ultrasounds for patients undergoing fetal therapy. Conduct intraoperative ultrasound procedures as needed.
  • Carry out therapeutic fetal echocardiograms. Maintain precise records of fetal therapy ultrasounds conducted. Perform all other responsibilities typical of an Ultrasound Technologist 1.
  • Provide emergency fetal therapy procedures on an on-call basis. Adhere to and execute all relevant unit-specific policies and procedures as outlined in the unit-specific competency checklist. Utilize job and unit-specific equipment as required.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited Ultrasound Technology program is mandatory.

Experience

Typically requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.

Licensure/Certification

Individuals hired prior to a specified date must secure the necessary ARDMS certification within a designated timeframe.

New hires with external training must possess the required certification upon hire, with equivalent documented clinical hours counting towards experience.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association and any additional applicable life support certifications for healthcare providers are required upon hire, with maintenance for the duration of employment.BLS ACLS PALS NRP
