Summary:
As a Pediatric Cardiology Ultrasound Specialist, you will engage in advanced technical procedures in diagnostic ultrasound, utilizing sophisticated equipment for specialized examinations tailored to pediatric patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct ultrasound scans while adhering to safety protocols, ensuring the procedures meet the developmental needs of young patients.
  • Process imaging films in the absence of a Medical Surgical Technologist.
  • Document detailed procedures in the hospital information system and maintain accurate logs.
  • Assist patients in navigating the examination process and transport them as necessary.
  • Perform portable ultrasound examinations and support radiologists during surgical cases, providing preliminary assessments when required.
  • Educate patients and nursing staff on necessary preparations for ultrasound exams, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Support radiologists in executing specialized procedures, preparing the necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Report any equipment issues to the supervisor and maintain cleanliness in examination areas, following infection control protocols.
  • Contribute to the training of ultrasound students and medical residents.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives by reviewing performance reports and suggesting enhancements.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of growth and development principles relevant to pediatric care.
  • Evaluate patient data to identify specific needs and requirements.
  • Maintain current CPR certification and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience:
Typically requires 0 to 3 years of relevant experience.

Education:
Completion of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program is mandatory.

Credentials:
  • ARDMS registration is required. Certification must be obtained within specified timeframes based on hire date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire, with ongoing maintenance throughout employment.
