POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the maintenance and operations of various facility locations, substations, and broadband sites associated with New Hampshire Electric Cooperative. This position is essential for ensuring a safe, secure, and efficient working environment across all facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment through the reliable operation and upkeep of buildings and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety devices.
  • Enhance workplace security by conducting routine tests and maintenance on security systems, fire alarms, and emergency generators, while responding promptly to any alarms.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on lighting and plumbing systems, and troubleshoot issues with building furnishings and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Department to address facility safety concerns and coordinate necessary repairs.
  • Manage solid waste disposal processes, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations regarding hazardous materials.
  • Promote safety by maintaining a clean work environment and participating in safety meetings, while recognizing and addressing at-risk behaviors.
  • Process requisitions for routine maintenance tasks, including snow removal and lawn care.
  • Improve facility functionality and aesthetics through minor repairs, painting, and office space design adjustments.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; advanced training in building operations is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory; a CDL B license is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is required.
  • Commitment to ongoing education to stay informed about building codes and regulations.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to identify and address health and safety issues.
  • Capable of scheduling and executing maintenance tasks to meet organizational standards.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing building systems and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to assemble and relocate office furniture as needed.
  • Familiarity with personal computers for email and record-keeping is required.
  • Knowledge of building construction, maintenance practices, and safety regulations is beneficial.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Willingness to work day shifts, with occasional evenings and weekends as necessary. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, including lifting heavy objects when required. Must be available for on-call emergencies.

COMPENSATION:

New Hampshire Electric Cooperative offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes work-life balance, generous time off, and health and retirement benefits. The salary range for this position is $53,000 – $63,000.
