POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Facilities Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the various locations and systems of New Hampshire Electric Cooperative. Reporting to the Lead Facilities Coordinator, this position is responsible for ensuring that all facilities are safe, secure, and operationally efficient.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment through effective operation and upkeep of all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems.
  • Enhance workplace security by conducting routine checks and maintenance on security systems, fire alarms, and emergency power systems.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on lighting and plumbing fixtures, and troubleshoot issues with building equipment and furnishings.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Department to address facility safety concerns and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Oversee waste disposal processes, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials in accordance with established procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety by participating in safety meetings and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Manage requisitions for routine maintenance services, including snow removal and lawn care.
  • Improve facility aesthetics and functionality through minor repairs, painting, and office space design adjustments.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional training in building operations is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary; a CDL B license is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is essential.
  • Ongoing education to stay current with building codes and regulations is required.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to identify and address health and safety issues.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate maintenance activities effectively.
  • Proficient in using personal computers for communication and record-keeping.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and building codes is beneficial.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The role requires flexibility to work during the day, evenings, and weekends as needed. The technician must be comfortable working in various weather conditions and capable of lifting up to 100 pounds. Availability for on-call emergency response is essential.
