POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Facilities Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the maintenance and operations of various facility locations. Reporting to the Lead Facilities Coordinator, this position is responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and efficient working environment. The technician will conduct maintenance and repairs to uphold the organization's image and values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment through reliable operation and upkeep of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and life-safety devices.
- Enhance workplace security by conducting routine testing and maintenance of security systems, fire alarms, and emergency power systems.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on lighting and plumbing fixtures, and troubleshoot building equipment as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Safety Department to address facility safety concerns and facilitate necessary repairs.
- Oversee waste disposal processes, ensuring compliance with regulations for hazardous materials.
- Contribute to corporate safety initiatives by maintaining a clean work environment and participating in safety meetings.
- Manage requisitions for routine maintenance services, including snow removal and lawn care.
- Improve facility functionality and aesthetics through minor repairs, painting, and office space design adjustments.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; advanced coursework in building operations is a plus.
- A valid driver's license is necessary; a CDL B license is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or related fields is required.
- Ongoing education to stay current with building codes is essential.
- Must be self-motivated, organized, and capable of identifying and addressing health and safety issues.
- Ability to effectively schedule and execute maintenance tasks to meet organizational standards.
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing building systems and equipment.
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and building codes is beneficial.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The role requires flexibility to work day shifts, evenings, and weekends as needed. Candidates must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions and be able to lift up to 100 pounds. On-call availability for emergencies is required.
