Manufacturing Equipment Operator

Key Responsibilities
Your expertise in mechanical operations, coupled with your experience in metalworking machinery and precision measurement tools, will be essential in this position.
- Sharpen and maintain machine tools
- Distribute tools and equipment to manufacturing personnel while accurately documenting transactions
- Conduct inventory management tasks, including filing, indexing, and updating records
- Utilize the Kardex vertical lift system for inventory tracking
- Inspect both new and refurbished tools for functionality
- Prepare requisitions for tool repairs or replacements
- Document and oversee the return of tools sent to vendors for maintenance
- Execute inventory-related tasks as needed
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tools and equipment within the tool storage area
- Carry out general housekeeping and administrative duties related to tool management
- Create purchase orders for tool acquisitions and external services
- Manage the shipping and receiving of tools from suppliers
- Learn and effectively use the company’s ERP and tool management systems
- Support and understand the operation of machine shop vending systems
- Oversee tooling across various workstations
- Verify tool availability and maintain accurate records
- Coordinate tool access with the manufacturing team
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of machine shop tools
- Follow safety protocols for handling tools and grinders
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer usage
- Be physically capable of prolonged standing
- Exhibit basic mathematical skills
- Assess tools for wear and damage
- Understand CNC machining and fundamental machine shop operations
- Perform basic data entry tasks
- Utilize strong problem-solving abilities
- Learn tool sharpening techniques using various manual and CNC machines
- Become proficient in setting up and issuing machine tools with the Zoller tool pre-setter and software
Qualifications & Skills
- Prior supervisory experience is advantageous
- Three to five years of experience in industrial or machine shop tooling; relevant education may substitute for experience
- Solid understanding of machine shop tools and maintenance
- CNC machine experience is a plus
- Experience in tool setup and assembly is beneficial
- Knowledge of tool presetting is advantageous
- Computer literacy is required
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain simple records and perform accurate arithmetic calculations
- Experience with micrometers and calipers is preferred
- Ability to read basic blueprints and schematics
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license
