The City of Medford seeks a highly motivated and experienced Community Outreach Coordinator to support immigrant communities through various initiatives. This role involves acting as a liaison between the City and under-represented groups, providing resources and language education (ESOL) to help immigrants and refugees navigate local customs, laws, and services.

About the Role

This is a part-time position (15 hours per week) contracted until June 30, 2026. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by immigrant populations, including language barriers, legal complexities, and cultural differences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with municipal staff and project partners to identify policy and environmental issues affecting immigrant communities.
  • Build trusting relationships with immigrant communities to understand their challenges and needs.
  • Support city planning initiatives by aligning goals with the needs of immigrants.
  • Conduct outreach to promote resources and encourage community engagement in city initiatives.
  • Organize workshops to help immigrants navigate local customs, laws, and services.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Co-host quarterly meetings for ESOL and immigrant service providers to coordinate resources and support.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma and GED
  • Three years' experience in community organizing and/or advocating
  • One year's experience in Project Management

We offer a competitive salary of $36,000 per year (approximately $30 per hour), reflecting the cost of living in the Boston metropolitan area.
