Position Overview:

The County of Santa Barbara is seeking dedicated individuals to join the Sheriff's Office as Non-Sworn Law Enforcement Support Specialists. This role involves performing a range of essential technical and administrative functions that support law enforcement operations and enhance community safety.

As a Non-Sworn Law Enforcement Support Specialist, you will engage in various responsibilities, including assisting sworn personnel, interacting with the public, and fulfilling administrative tasks. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in law enforcement through comprehensive on-the-job training.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in administrative duties within detention and law enforcement facilities, ensuring smooth operations and effective support for sworn personnel.

2. Interact with community members and inmates, providing assistance and information while maintaining a professional demeanor.

3. Perform clerical tasks such as managing office supplies, processing payments, and maintaining records.

4. Monitor and report on inmate behavior, ensuring compliance with established rules and regulations.

5. Support Custody Deputies in maintaining security within detention facilities, including monitoring communication systems and controlling access points.

6. Conduct routine patrols and assist with traffic control during special events or emergencies.

7. Participate in community outreach efforts to promote crime prevention and enhance public safety awareness.

Qualifications:
