Your Role

As an Ophthalmic Medical Scribe, you will work in close collaboration with our Ophthalmologists and Optometrists to deliver outstanding patient care. Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and record patient medical histories
  • Adhere to the AVP care-pathing framework
  • Assess visual acuity
  • Familiarity with basic medical ICD-10 coding
  • Understanding of common insurance plans
  • Utilize lensometers (both manual and automated)
  • Maintain stock levels in examination rooms
  • Coordinate scheduling tasks
  • Conduct monthly chart reviews
  • Manage medication refill requests
  • Administer prescribed eye drops, ointments, and solutions
  • Perform administrative and clinical duties, including data entry into EMR and patient service tasks

Qualifications

  • Reliable transportation for travel between locations
  • Flexibility to work at various sites
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Willingness to seek guidance in unfamiliar areas
  • Aptitude for identifying discrepancies
  • High School diploma or GED; an associate degree is preferred
  • Billing and Coding Certification to be obtained within 1-2 years of employment
  • OSC Certification to be achieved within the first year of employment
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation, including using power tools and lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to undergo a background check (drug screening for specific facilities)

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:

· Ability to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

· Frequent repetitive motions involving substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

· Close visual acuity required for tasks including viewing computer screens and extensive reading.

· Capability to remain stationary for extended periods.
