Position: Project Management Controls Specialist

Work Arrangement: Remote, within the service area

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Project Controls Analysis
  • 1-2 years of experience in the utility sector
  • Proven ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail
  • Experience with scheduling software, particularly Primavera P6
  • Proficient in financial analysis and cost management using tools like Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PG&E
  • Interest in understanding Interconnection agreements, transmission, and/or substation operations

Key Responsibilities:

As a Project Management Controls Specialist at Insight Global, you will collaborate with one of the leading utility companies to enhance their Electric Program & Project Management division. Your role will involve supporting Electric Generation Interconnection, Transmission, and Substation initiatives. You will work closely with Project Managers to assist in the development of schedules using Primavera P6 and will also engage in cost planning and analysis.

  • Schedule Development and Management:
    • In partnership with the Project Manager and project team, create and maintain a resource and cost-loaded project baseline schedule and forecast.
    • Develop, update, and manage construction schedules utilizing Primavera P6.
    • Document, track, and communicate project milestones and risks to relevant stakeholders.
    • Prepare and oversee a company-wide labor resource schedule, providing insights into capacity and demand forecasts.
  • Cost Planning and Analysis:
    • Establish, maintain, and update monthly project budget forecasts.
    • Generate various reports on cost to complete and field production, along with project performance analysis, cost, and schedule status updates.
    • Review project budgets with Project Managers using Heavy Bid and Heavy Job software.
    • Assist Project Managers in maintaining cost to complete in Heavy Job and recommend corrective actions when forecasts exceed approved budgets.
    • Input data into various systems and prepare comprehensive cost and forecasting reports.
    • Provide monthly updates to Project Managers regarding project costs and/or schedule information, including variance analysis based on an agreed level of detail and prioritization.
