Job Summary

Under the direction of a registered nurse, the Patient Care Associate plays a vital role in promoting a safe and compassionate patient care environment. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of patient care plans as directed by registered nurses.
  • Provide physical care to patients, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and perform other monitoring activities as required.
  • Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
  • Document patient care in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including the removal of clutter and the proper disposal of waste.
  • Obtain and label specimens as required, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide mentoring and teaching to new nursing assistants, as needed.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, unless you hold a nursing assistant certification.
  • Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Basic skills in math and computer science.
  • Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
Work Environment

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with exposure to blood-borne pathogens, infectious diseases, and other hazards. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established safety protocols.

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods, with occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds. You will also be required to use your hands and arms to perform tasks, including reaching, grasping, and manipulating objects.
