Position Overview:
The Barback at Hotel Effie Sandestin Autograph Collection plays a crucial role in supporting bartenders to deliver exceptional service to guests while upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation during operational hours. Responsibilities include assisting with opening and closing tasks, restocking the bar with necessary supplies, and ensuring that bartenders have access to clean towels, glassware, and other essentials. The Barback is also responsible for maintaining a well-stocked bar with ice, liquor, wine, and beer, as well as checking the functionality of taps, CO2 tanks, and soda guns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a positive, attentive, and courteous demeanor towards guests, managers, and colleagues.
  • Assist with bar opening and closing duties, including restocking supplies and ensuring cleanliness.
  • Ensure the bar is adequately stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer by monitoring inventory levels.
  • Check and maintain the functionality of bar equipment, making minor repairs as necessary.
  • Uphold cleanliness standards by regularly cleaning surfaces, sweeping, mopping, and managing waste.
  • Familiarize yourself with menu items and cocktail recipes.
  • Assist in taking orders, preparing drinks, and processing payments during busy periods.
  • Engage with customers, addressing inquiries and resolving complaints effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of supply usage to facilitate reordering processes.
  • Adhere to Hotel Effie and departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of beverage offerings, including beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors.
  • Be observant and thorough in all tasks.
  • Exhibit responsibility and punctuality in all duties.

Qualifications:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of staff and guests.
  • Ability to listen and clarify concerns raised by guests and colleagues.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills to meet departmental deadlines.
  • Maintain a positive and service-oriented approach in all interactions.
  • Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
  • Regular attendance in compliance with company standards is essential.
  • High standards of personal grooming and appearance are required.
  • Comply with safety and operational regulations.
  • Willingness to cross-train in other hotel-related areas.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects as required.
  • Minimum age requirement to serve alcohol.
  • Knowledge of beverage offerings is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing and lifting for extended periods.
  • High School diploma or equivalent experience in hospitality is preferred.
  • Previous experience or training in a related field is advantageous.
