Position Overview: The role entails overseeing the necessary documentation mandated by US Customs and Government Agencies for the entry of intricate and high-risk shipments. These shipments are classified as such due to specific regulatory requirements and tariff combinations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Engage with clients concerning commodities that necessitate specialized processing to mitigate the risk of liquidated damages and penalties through accurate classification and appropriate duty preferences.
  • Ensure the correct classification of goods for customs clearance utilizing databases, standard operating procedures, tariff books, and relevant online resources.
  • Process and input various import-related documentation for submission to US Customs and all Participating Government Agencies (PGAs).
  • Maintain and update all shipment documentation to comply with record-keeping regulations.
  • Adhere to all international import and export regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, other FedEx operational companies, clients, and government entities to provide a high level of service.
  • Manage agency brokerage shipments and handle remote filings.
  • Conduct entry reconciliations as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental and organizational policies.
  • Follow up on customs-related issues and resolve any arising problems.
  • Perform entry reviews as necessary.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Training and Qualifications:

Paid training will be provided. An associate degree or equivalent is preferred. A minimum of two years of brokerage experience is required, along with at least one year of customer interaction experience. Proficiency in data entry and keyboard skills is essential. Certification as a Customs Specialist (CCS) and/or a brokerage license is highly preferred.

Technical Skills: Required skills include proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and familiarity with office equipment such as phones, fax machines, photocopiers, printers, and scanners. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial.

Additional Skills: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage a high volume of work under time constraints are essential. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to utilize multiple systems and reference materials is necessary.

Knowledge Requirements: A solid understanding of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules is required.

Work Schedule: The standard work shift is from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
