The Field Operations Superintendent plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all on-site labor while ensuring effective coordination and collaboration with internal company personnel. This position is crucial for the successful implementation of company policies and practices, fostering an environment that aligns with the company culture, safety initiatives, and strategic objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Coordination & Prefabrication

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager, General Foreman, and Foreman to assess field labor requirements, develop a master labor plan, and establish a comprehensive schedule.
  • Engage with the General Foreman and Foreman to strategically plan for high-risk operations, including emergency repairs and rapid installations.
  • Ensure accountability among field teams for effective short-term scheduling and planning.
  • Lead Project Kickoff and Prefabrication meetings, as well as regular meetings with foremen to ensure alignment and communication.
  • Manage the onboarding and offboarding processes for field personnel, maintaining accurate records of staff assignments and craft codes.
  • Act as the technical authority for the market, mentoring both office and field staff to enhance their technical and operational expertise.
  • Work closely with the project manager to facilitate the successful execution of complex mechanical construction projects, leveraging centralized support services as needed.

Training & Development

  • Provide training to General Foremen and Foremen on disciplinary procedures and support them in implementing these processes in the field.
  • Establish and oversee a training program for field processes, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
  • Conduct thorough performance evaluations for all General Foremen and Foremen.

Commitment to Safety

  • Promote and enforce adherence to the company’s safety programs, including Job Hazard Analysis and Health and Safety Plans.

Cost Management

  • Oversee labor cost controls on a project basis, ensuring that projects are completed within the allocated labor hours and budget.
  • Participate actively in Work in Progress reviews, translating data insights into actionable strategies for field supervision.

Communication

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, colleagues, administrative staff, field workers, vendors, and subcontractors based on mutual respect and integrity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and inspire team members, fostering a positive work environment that encourages personal and project success.
  • Comprehensive understanding of compliance with work regulations across various jurisdictions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to engage with employees, clients, and subcontractors professionally.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated commitment to championing company initiatives and policies.
  • Experience supervising teams of ten or more, with a focus on field management.
  • Evidence of career progression and support for the development of subordinates.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes.
