The Field Operations Superintendent plays a pivotal role in overseeing and directing all on-site labor while ensuring effective collaboration and support among internal company personnel. This position is essential for maintaining the execution of company policies and fostering an environment that aligns with the corporate culture, safety initiatives, and strategic objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Coordination & Prefabrication

  • Manage field labor requirements, develop a comprehensive labor strategy, and synchronize schedules with the Project Manager, General Foreman, and Foreman, along with other internal departments and labor unions.
  • Collaborate with the General Foreman and Foreman to proactively plan for high-risk operations, including power outages, rapid installations, and urgent repairs.
  • Ensure accountability among field teams for short-term scheduling and operational planning.
  • Participate in Project Kickoff and Prefabrication meetings; facilitate regular meetings with foremen and other necessary gatherings.
  • Oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes for field personnel, maintaining accurate records of staff assignments and craft classifications.
  • Act as the technical authority and mentor for the local market, enhancing the technical skills and field knowledge of both office and field staff.
  • Work closely with the project manager to ensure the successful execution of complex mechanical construction projects, with the project manager providing support in documentation, scheduling, and procurement.

Training & Development

  • Educate General Foremen and Foremen on disciplinary procedures related to attendance, productivity, and other performance issues.
  • Implement training programs for General Foremen and Foremen to ensure adherence to field processes.
  • Conduct thorough performance assessments for all General Foremen and Foremen.

Commitment to Safety

  • Advocate for and enforce the company’s safety protocols, including Job Hazard Analysis and Health and Safety Plans.

Cost Management

  • Oversee labor cost management for projects, ensuring completion within budgeted hours and financial parameters.
  • Engage in Work in Progress reviews, interpreting data to inform field supervision and staff in understandable terms.

Communication

  • Establish and nurture relationships with clients, colleagues, supervisors, administrative personnel, field workers, vendors, and subcontractors based on mutual respect and integrity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and inspire team members, fostering a positive work atmosphere conducive to personal and project success.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with relevant work regulations in all jurisdictions where the company operates.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to engage professionally with various stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated commitment to championing company policies and initiatives.
  • Experience supervising teams of ten or more, with a focus on field management.
  • Evidence of career advancement and support for the professional growth of team members.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Must possess strong English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse groups, including customers, employees, unions, and vendors. Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish, are advantageous.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role requires regular physical activity, including sitting, walking, climbing, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees may work in various conditions, including outdoor environments and exposure to elements such as noise, dust, and temperature variations. Safety precautions are paramount.
