Job Purpose

The Injection Molding Process Engineer is a hands-on position responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing equipment and processes to produce high-quality injection molded products. This role involves coordinating molding efforts on new program launches, setting up and/or revising manufacturing processes, and assisting in problem-solving and continuous process improvements. The Process Engineer will also mentor and provide training to other injection molding personnel.

Main Accountabilities and Tasks
  • Ensure operational readiness of injection molding machines and support processes.
  • Set up molding tools and create setup parameters.
  • Verify that quality specifications are met and optimize ongoing processes on machines.
  • Develop and implement process improvements and technological upgrades.
  • Identify and implement cost optimization and reduction initiatives.
  • Train staff for molding processes and provide work instructions and manuals.
  • Maintain high-quality standards through on-the-floor interaction with employees to ensure quality and accuracy in each step of the production process.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process technicians, operators, and other molding personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations regarding environmental protection, fire prevention, and occupational health and safety.
Desired Experience and Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in an injection molding manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering.
  • Experience in processing of thermoplastics, robotics, automation, and hot runner systems.
  • Strong and diverse technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with little direction and a high level of self-motivation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an interruption-prone environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong TEAM and LEAD mentality required.
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Complex problem-solving capabilities.
  • Commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format.

Physical Requirements
  • In order to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation, the employee must be able to see, hear, talk, and use hands and fingers to operate computer hardware and peripherals as well as equipment and tools for basic assembly, packaging, and logistics. Employee must be able to lift up to 55lbs on a regular basis as required for packing, shipping, and inventory management. Frequent to constant standing and walking throughout the workday. Steel toe shoes are required. If the employee will be exposed to loud noise and/or eye hazards, they will be required to wear hearing and/or eye protection which will be provided.
