Manufacturing Process Improvement Specialist

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to drive manufacturing process improvements for our site, impacting safety, quality, delivery performance, and productivity. The ideal candidate will utilize the HBD business system to maximize and sustain changes to the work, developing and implementing a strategic, future factory vision for the site.
Key Responsibilities- Engage with the site's continuous improvement roadmap to identify and prioritize performance improvement efforts.
- Lead manufacturing engineering initiatives to achieve better process control, variation reduction, and productivity improvements.
- Evaluate and improve machining operations, utilizing experience in CNC machining with tooling, fixturing, machines, and machine shop standard work.
- Evaluate and improve manual assembly operations, with experience in assembly tools and work stations with standard work.
- Identify and deploy new manufacturing technologies as required to address business problems on the factory floor.
- Study and apply the HBD business system to accomplish the above-listed improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with suppliers and production personnel to arrange for cost-effective purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and facility layout of equipment and workspace for efficient utilization of equipment and personnel.
- Provide engineering guidance and assistance to the manufacturing, assembly, quality assurance, and tooling departments.
- Communicate daily regarding manufacturing engineering activities.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a technically related field.
- 5 to 7 years' experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in an industrial manufacturing environment with varied manufacturing processes, in a high mix – low volume environment.
- Knowledge of Gear products manufacturing is preferred.
- Experience with implementing improvements in an industrial environment with emphasis on manufacturability, cost, and process reliability.
- Knowledge of CNC machining, programming, fixture design, and cutting tools.
- Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing.
- Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Effective follow-up, analytics, and project management.
- Advanced skill with all MS Office products.
- Proficiency with Solid Works or other 3D design software is preferred.
- Knowledge of machine programming/CAD/CAM is preferred.
