Job Summary

The Virginia Office of the Attorney General is seeking a highly-qualified attorney to join its Consumer Protection Section. As an Assistant Attorney General, you will play a critical role in analyzing, investigating, and prosecuting suspected violations of the Consumer Data Protection Act, the Virginia Consumer Protection Act, and other state and federal consumer privacy statutes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and investigate complex enforcement cases
  • Prepare and present cases in state and federal court
  • Work with counterparts in other states and federal agencies
  • Assist in drafting official opinions and reviewing proposed legislation
Requirements
  • Minimum 3-5 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts
  • Concentration on consumer privacy or consumer protection matters
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar
  • Certification in the International Association of Privacy Professionals' Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) is desired
Preferred Qualifications
  • Discussion of all relevant experience
  • Writing sample and law school transcript
