About Us: Blue Origin is a pioneer in space technology, striving to make humanity a multi-planetary species. We're dedicated to developing reusable rockets and spacecraft systems that enable safe and sustainable access to space.

We are seeking a skilled Reliability and Avionics Systems Specialist to join our team of innovators at the Blue Origin Engines business unit. This role will play a crucial part in designing, developing, and testing engines and propulsion systems for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight applications.

As a member of our diverse team, you'll utilize data-driven approaches to identify factors affecting engine reliability and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in production, test, and flight reliability. Your dedication and commitment will directly impact the history of space exploration.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in system development, integration, or testing of aerospace products or complex electromechanical systems. Experience with reliability engineering for electrical components and circuit card assemblies is also highly valued. Additionally, knowledge of systems engineering practices throughout the product lifecycle is essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify reliability requirements and develop design solutions to implement fault tolerance into the engine control system avionics architecture.
  • Support early trade studies to drive design-for-reliability into the engine control system avionics architecture.
  • Develop test requirements that enable the identification of failure modes to be mitigated through re-design and test requirements that demonstrate reliability goals/requirements.
  • Perform reliability analysis to identify design weaknesses and inform design improvements.

Requirements:
  • BS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, computer science, physics, or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in system development, integration, or testing of aerospace products or complex electromechanical systems.
  • 2+ years of RAMS experience of either liquid rocket engines or avionics for space application or 4+ years of system safety, reliability, or RAMS engineering experience in any industry.
  • Experience with reliability engineering for electrical components and circuit card assemblies.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Benefits:
  • Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance.
  • Paid parental leave, short and long-term disability.
  • 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%.
  • Education Support Program.
  • Up to four (4) weeks paid time off per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
