Avionics Software Lead

We are committed to making humanity a multiplanetary species at Blue Origin. As part of our New Shepard program, you will work on a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop and manage systems engineering processes, standards, and tools for the New Shepard software and avionics system.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve systems engineering processes for software and avionics on New Shepard.
  • Identify and propose adoption of new tools for software development and avionics.
  • Develop and execute plans for internal tool development.
  • Train and mentor engineers on process and standard adherence.
  • Ensure software compliance with system requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 8+ years of aerospace industry experience with 4+ years of software development experience.
  • Strong system safety and mission assurance fundamentals.
  • Experience interpreting software standards (e.g., RTCA DO-178, DO-278).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • U.S. citizenship or national status, permanent residence, or lawful admission.
Salary Information

$170,805-$239,127 per year, based on location.
