Role Summary:

The Senior Business Affairs Manager is crucial in facilitating creative development and integrated productions across various media, including broadcast, print, experiential, and digital projects. This role requires a collaborative team player with a creative mindset, adept at navigating a fast-paced creative environment, and possessing a comprehensive understanding of the production lifecycle from inception to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Creative and Production Management:

  • Act as the primary business affairs lead for client projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-agency teams to evaluate creative materials at all phases, providing guidance on talent, third-party rights, copyright, trademark, and advertising regulations.
  • Review vendor policies and agreements to ensure compliance with client statements of work (SOWs) and master service agreements (MSAs).
  • Work alongside legal counsel to conduct preliminary trademark assessments.
  • Oversee third-party rights management and clearance processes.
  • Negotiate, structure, and draft agreements related to celebrity talent, creators, music, and intellectual property.
  • Collaborate with agency legal teams on contract challenges, standardization of releases, template updates, and risk evaluations.
  • Provide guidance on production best practices, client brand guidelines, and organizational perspectives.
  • Coordinate with production teams and stakeholders to monitor and manage ongoing agency production projects.
  • Assist producers in reviewing and advising on bidding documents.
  • Partner with finance and production teams to finalize client estimates and conditions prior to client approval.
  • Generate and distribute necessary documentation, including vendor agreements, insurance, licensing, and talent contracts.
  • Collaborate with producers and finance on production budgets and actual costs.
  • Engage with insurance and risk management to assess production and contractual challenges.
  • Proactively manage all documentation related to account transitions.

Talent, Music, and Licensing Management:

  • Advise and educate on SAG-AFTRA and AFM agreements, including waivers and best practices.
  • Provide guidance on non-union best practices and employment guidelines.
  • Participate in project scoping discussions to influence outcomes.
  • Estimate talent session fees and all associated costs for production and usage.
  • Manage the complete talent lifecycle, including contracts, session reports, and payments, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines.
  • Draft and negotiate various third-party agreements, including those related to music, footage, and other intellectual properties.
Qualifications:
  • 6-8 years of experience in advertising business affairs.
  • Extensive experience with SAG regulations.
  • Proven track record in contract negotiations with clients and third parties.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
