Position Summary:

The Lead Underwater Robotics Operations Engineer is pivotal in facilitating field operations for our underwater technologies and services. This role encompasses ensuring the secure and effective deployment, functioning, and upkeep of subsea equipment across diverse offshore settings. You will work in close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to strategize and carry out field initiatives, address technical challenges, and refine operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and disassemble robotic systems following technical specifications and engineering blueprints.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on robotic units, including cleaning, lubrication, and calibration tasks.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components within the robotic systems.
  • Perform tests and diagnostics to identify and rectify technical problems.
  • Support the installation, integration, and production of robotic technologies and systems.
  • Engage with engineering teams to provide insights and recommend enhancements to robotic designs.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all maintenance and repair operations.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Travel to operational sites for robot deployment and provide on-site technical assistance as required.
  • Fulfill general workshop responsibilities.
Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Associate degree or equivalent in robotics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of practical experience with AUVs, UUVs, or comparable robotic systems.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally and work in remote locations for extended durations.
  • Strong comprehension of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing technical issues in robotic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and capacity to perform under pressure.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and dedication to delivering high-quality results.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in robotics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in programming and operating robots with control software.
  • Knowledge of underwater sensors, cameras, and imaging technologies.
  • Familiarity with underwater communication protocols and networking.
  • Certifications in ROV operations or related fields.
  • Prior experience in the offshore sector or marine research.
  • Proficiency in utilizing diagnostic tools and equipment for testing and calibration.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to remain stationary and operate a computer and other office machinery.
  • Must be able to communicate information effectively.
  • Frequently required to move, transport, position, install, and remove equipment weighing at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to observe details at close range.
  • Must be capable of ascending/descending ladders and maneuvering in confined spaces.
Work Environment:

This position operates in both a professional office setting and industrial environments. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Additionally, it requires work on various offshore platforms, bodies of water, and small vessels. Travel to operational sites may be necessary, with potential exposure to varying environmental conditions.
