Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role is available for remote work within North Carolina and neighboring states.


As a key member of our team, you will provide expert engineering support for PowerSecure MicroGrid systems, including switchgear and generators. Your commitment to customer satisfaction will be demonstrated through your ability to meet expectations, maintain high-quality decision-making through your extensive experience, and apply systematic analysis to deliver effective solutions. You will excel in problem-solving by utilizing logical approaches and established methods to resolve issues efficiently.

Essential Qualifications:



• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in the Switchgear and/or Power Generation sector.

• Over 12 years of experience in commercial or industrial environments focusing on Generators, ATS/switchgear, and Paralleling Control systems.

• Proficient in interpreting Electrical and Mechanical Schematics and Engineer of Record Drawings.

• Familiarity with Programming Logic Controllers (PLC), Generator controllers, Protective relays, and Alternators.

• Recommended experience in commissioning and field operations.

• NFPA 70 ARC Flash Certification is preferred.

• Valid Driver's License required.

• Capability to understand, modify, and develop Switchgear and/or PowerGen controllers and devices.

• Strong understanding of operational principles of Switchgear and/or PowerGen products.

• Proficient in troubleshooting Switchgear and/or PowerGen systems.

• Ability to comprehend and adhere to project scopes.

• Experience leading Root Cause Analysis teams to address field discrepancies.

• Knowledge of PowerSecure Microgrid Solution Products.

• Solid understanding of AC/DC Electrical Theory.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, including failure analysis and corrective action implementation.

• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks independently.

Key Responsibilities:


Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Acting as a liaison between engineering teams and field operations to address issues that arise during startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

• Assisting with complex startup procedures and providing technical support both remotely and on-site.

• Managing onsite engineering changes to documentation and settings files.

• Communicating open action items effectively to ensure proper planning and task assignment.

• Supporting the development and execution of field retrofit projects, engineering change notices, and technical troubleshooting guidelines.

• Collaborating with Product Support Training Specialists to resolve technical challenges.

• Escalating critical issues to leadership that may impact project quality or timelines to ensure customer satisfaction while managing costs.

• Assisting the Product Support Manager in scheduling and prioritizing tasks.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:


• Occasional travel may be required, up to 45%.

• You may be exposed to industrial equipment, including switchgear and generators, and will work in various environments, both indoors and outdoors.

• Ability to withstand outdoor temperatures with reasonable accommodations and work at a desk for extended periods.

• Manual dexterity is necessary for operating digital equipment, including computers and PLCs.

• Availability for after-hours and weekend support may be necessary.

• The typical work environment will be remote, with potential exposure to various weather conditions and industrial settings.
