Position Title: Sales Associate / Material Handler

Overview:

The Salvation Army Family Store is seeking dedicated Sales Associates/Material Handlers to enhance the shopping experience for our valued customers. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our mission by delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring that shoppers can easily access the items they cherish. Your responsibilities will include sharing product knowledge, restocking inventory, and maintaining an attractive store layout, all while contributing to our commitment to community service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome all customers and donors, providing prompt and courteous assistance to meet their needs.
  • Prepare priced items for display on the sales floor in line with organizational standards.
  • Sort and process donations according to established guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment.
  • Adhere to all cash register and point-of-sale policies as per organizational procedures.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and report any hazards to management.
  • Comply with all human resources policies and procedures.
  • Participate in mandatory monthly team meetings.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with dress code policies.
  • Be flexible with work schedules to ensure adequate coverage, including evenings and weekends.
  • Receive, unload, and accurately stock incoming inventory.
  • Conduct quality checks on products to identify defects or damages.
  • Maintain cleanliness around donation areas before and after shifts.
  • Assist donors with unloading items and provide receipts as needed.
  • Sort and categorize donations into appropriate containers as directed.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to operate point-of-sale systems.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Effective communication skills with management, coworkers, customers, and donors.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform various physical activities including sitting, walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to operate equipment such as carts and hand trucks.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks as required.
