Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at the City of New York. As an Environmental Compliance Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting air and noise enforcement by evaluating metrics and improvements to various air and noise programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the enforcement unit to address community complaints rapidly and provide regulatory and technical assistance for Environmental Control Board hearings.
  • Use Microsoft Excel and Power BI as well as Power Point to support changes to the air and noise code and bureau operations providing quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Perform analytical studies to evaluate emission and noise data to correlate with policy and legal considerations.
  • Maintain project tracking data and create and update reports on project planning and progress.
  • Prepare research reports for review by senior staff.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Qualifications:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
