Job Overview

This is a unique opportunity to join the State of Montana's Judicial Branch as a Judicial Administrative Assistant II. As a key member of the team, you will provide administrative support to three Montana Supreme Court justices, ensuring the smooth operation of their chambers.

Responsibilities
  • Assist justices in preparing weekly orders and opinions, proofreading and finalizing documents for publication
  • Coordinate the progress of opinions from drafting stages to final release, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and adherence to court procedures
  • Organize and process incoming paperwork, maintaining extensive filing systems and updating chambers library and reference documents
  • Provide secretarial assistance, including typing, editing, and proofreading legal documents, and operating office equipment
  • Assist law clerks, staff attorneys, and judicial branch technical staff in maintaining Court websites and coordinating justices' involvement in judicial conferences and meetings
Requirements
  • Associate degree in business or clerical studies or a similar field
  • At least three and a half years of progressively responsible legal experience, demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Experience in a legal or court setting is required and can substitute for the associate degree
  • Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions, recognize and maintain the need for confidentiality, and work well in cooperation with others
