Accounting Associate II Position

The Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education (OCHE) invites applications for the position of Accounting Associate II. This part-time classified staff position is covered by the Montana University System Staff Compensation Plan.

The Accounting Associate II reports to the Accounting Manager within the Budget, Administration, & Planning Unit of the OCHE. The typical duties and responsibilities for this position include:

  • Electronic document filing and management
  • Reviewing timecard entries, sending reminders, and running payroll reports to identify any issues
  • Managing hard copy files, including disposal and records management
  • Working on and disposing of surplus office equipment
  • Organizing procurement contract folders and updating contract logs
  • Daily accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Budget review of federal program files
  • Workers' Comp check reconciliation
  • Assisting with other general accounting services as needed

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of accounting principles, with a minimum of one year of relevant experience. Proficiency in software applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, and database management, is also required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as a member of a team, are essential.
