GENERAL SUMMARY:


Reporting to the East Florida EVP/CEO, the VP of Outpatient Surgical Services & Network Development across Florida and AdventHealth is accountable for the strategic planning, financial performance, clinical outcomes, operational direction, growth, and expansion of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), including joint ventures and AdventHealth-owned facilities.

The VP serves as the primary leader for managing joint venture relationships, fostering partnership engagement, and driving business development for AdventHealth Florida's ASCs.

The VP collaborates with our ASC partners to optimize opportunities within Florida and across AdventHealth markets.

Key responsibilities include formulating new business strategies in anticipation of value-based care, optimizing care sites, and overseeing the recruitment, acquisition, and deployment of new ASCs and business units.

Additionally, the VP ensures that all locations are operationalized effectively to achieve expected results in collaboration with ASC management companies and joint venture partners.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


Responsible for identifying new business opportunities, exploring expansion prospects, and prioritizing the development of an ambulatory surgery center strategy, which includes crafting growth plans for existing centers as well as new expansions, including de novo centers and evaluating joint venture relationships with physicians, ASC management companies, and other key stakeholders.

Manages the collective performance of the joint venture portfolio in partnership with joint venture partners, finance, strategy, and operational leadership.


Provides oversight for joint venture business development to ensure the achievement of goals related to annual business plan strategies, forecasts, and objectives. Regularly monitors business plans throughout the year.


Develops and implements both short-term and long-term strategic initiatives that position AdventHealth at the forefront of responding to external demands, reimbursement challenges, and consumer needs. This is accomplished through enhancing operational efficiency of existing ambulatory surgery centers and optimizing care sites while expanding new opportunities for growth; collaborates with local operations leadership to develop corrective action plans for underperforming operations while stimulating high-performing centers in partnership with ASC management companies.

Acts as the lead for emerging prospects and new joint venture relationships in collaboration with ASC management companies. Works with members of the AdventHealth Corporate team and/or designee on due diligence and transactions.

Conducts financial feasibility studies and develops proposals for new business opportunities in collaboration with local and/or national teams.

Facilitates and manages joint venture integration post-transaction in partnership with ASC management companies and operations.


Supports engagement through collaborative and ongoing internal/external communication, rigor, and structured meeting cadences with executive leaders, physicians, MECs, payors, and joint venture boards, as well as other key strategic audiences.


Serves as the organizational liaison to existing AdventHealth ASCs, monitoring operational performance, nurturing existing physician relationships, and ensuring a culture that aligns with the AdventHealth Mission.

Oversees the development and continuous improvement of services, policies, processes, and programs aligned with AdventHealth Mission objectives.


Identifies areas of unmet needs across Florida and other AdventHealth markets and formulates plans to address those needs from concept through to solution delivery.

Demonstrates the ability to engage with critical stakeholders, such as legal and compliance teams, in executing highly complex arrangements.


Establishes system productivity benchmarks and monitors industry trends to ensure services and strategies contribute to the highest quality and patient experience levels.


Ensures operations and patient care at all joint venture surgery center sites comply with applicable state, federal, and medical center regulations, as well as joint venture requirements and Clinical Integration Agreements.


Plans and implements timely communication strategies with both internal and external customers to keep them informed of changes, promoting engagement and retention, including facilitating problem identification and resolution through ongoing dialogue with management and administrative staff.

Designs and implements programs and services that optimize best practices aligned with AdventHealth's initiatives. Develops and implements an operational platform that creates consistent processes, workflows, and outcomes through operational excellence measures. Partners with market leadership and medical group leadership to focus on both top-line and bottom-line growth.


Possesses the ability to operate within a complex matrix organization to design, deliver, and optimize a comprehensive ambulatory surgery strategy by involving key system stakeholders that leverage new business models and position AdventHealth for long-term success.

Continuously seeks to enhance and innovate clinical and operational models.


Performs human resources responsibilities for direct staff, including interviewing and selecting new team members, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation adjustments, resolution of team member concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall team member engagement.


Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and ensuring that personal actions and those of supervised employees comply with applicable policies, regulations, and laws.


Leads the integration strategy partnerships for Ambulatory Surgery services with Managed Care, Supply Chain, Physician Enterprise, Institutes, Inpatient, Post Acute, and Population Health.


Collaborates with the AdventHealth Medical Groups to ensure operational effectiveness in integration strategies across all specialties of the medical group and business units within the ambulatory ASC ecosystem.


Collaborates with the Florida Division and other AdventHealth division CEOs, Strategy, Marketing, and Network Development teams to build strategic and marketing plans for the business units that are consumer-centric.

Accountable for achieving balanced metrics across the business units – market, clinical, financial, service, and team.


Responsible for developing annual capital, building, and renovation plans to meet the needs of the Ambulatory Surgery business units and support the overall Outpatient Strategy.

Provides strategic direction and guidance to the operational activities of the Ambulatory business units, including the annual planning process aimed at maximizing growth while maintaining quality, retail-focused, and consumer-centric care.


Responsible for building a cohesive Ambulatory Surgery leadership team that is accountable for deploying the strategic and operational plans efficiently and effectively. Supports and facilitates leadership development and succession planning for all team members, actively mentoring others into leadership roles.



EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in business administration or health services administration, or equivalent experience.

10 years of progressive leadership experience in the healthcare field, preferably in an outpatient and/or medical group setting.

2 years of operations and strategic management experience with multiple ambulatory surgery sites.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE PREFERRED:
MBA or MHA

5 years of healthcare experience in an ambulatory surgery setting.
