ROLE SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse will evaluate and oversee the psychiatric and medical requirements of clients referred to the BH Link. Responsibilities include providing assessments and crisis intervention for clients facing behavioral health challenges, administering medications as per established protocols, and ensuring thorough documentation in accordance with BH Link standards.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct assessments and crisis interventions for clients with behavioral health concerns.
  • Administer medications according to prescriber orders and established protocols.
  • Document all client interactions and care in compliance with BH Link guidelines.
  • Facilitate admissions by coordinating with referral sources.
  • Implement detoxification protocols, including the administration of CIWA and COW scales.
  • Perform medication reconciliation to ensure accuracy between medical records and medication administration records (MAR).
  • Collaborate with psychiatric prescribers and MA clinicians to coordinate service delivery.
  • Order medications from local pharmacies as per established procedures.
  • Adhere to all PPE and COVID-19 safety protocols.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid RN license in Rhode Island. Experience and a genuine interest in working with individuals facing psychiatric and/or substance use disorders are essential. The ability to function effectively within a multi-disciplinary team is crucial.


EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare environment is preferred, with a focus on assessing both medical and psychiatric needs of clients.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Responsibilities include preparing and administering medications as per medical directives, conducting vital sign assessments, and performing comprehensive safety evaluations for new admissions. Direct care services may be required, along with the safe transport of clients to higher levels of care.
