Position Overview:

The Patient Access Technician (PAT) role at MultiCare is an exciting opportunity, responsible for ensuring precise patient admissions and registrations.

This intermediate-level clerical position allows you to utilize your professional service orientation, sound judgment, and independent thinking in your daily responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure complete and accurate patient admissions and registrations in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process admissions, including arm banding and completion of necessary documentation.
  • Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory patients to facilitate a seamless admission process.
  • Gather direct admit information and enter reservations into the computer system to notify relevant departments.
  • Conduct comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with patients or their representatives to collect essential demographic and insurance information.
  • Perform eligibility verification, resolve discrepancies, and assess the need for financial assistance, referring to the Financial Counselor as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a health vocational program such as patient access, medical assistance, medical billing and insurance, or a related field is required.
  • One year of experience in admitting, billing, registration, or customer service within a healthcare setting may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Compensation and Benefits: We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental, retirement benefits, and paid time off. The pay scale for this position is $32.99 USD, influenced by factors such as skill set, experience level, and certifications.

If this position is associated with a union contract, compensation will reflect the appropriate step on the pay scale based on the applicant's years of experience.
