Position Overview

The Residential Life Coordinator plays a crucial role in establishing a nurturing living environment for participants while overseeing a team of Youth Development Counselors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, interview, and onboard youth development staff, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed in accordance with hiring protocols.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules to maintain compliance with youth-to-staff ratios.
  • Provide comprehensive training and orientation for new Youth Development Counselors.
  • Collaborate in the formulation of program policies and procedures, including incident reporting and staff conduct guidelines.
  • Lead therapeutic crisis intervention initiatives and pursue certification as a TCI trainer, maintaining ongoing training requirements.
  • Conduct mediation sessions to resolve professional conflicts among staff and youth as needed.
  • Oversee financial management for youth activities and submit budget requests while adhering to fiscal guidelines.
  • Facilitate weekly supervision meetings with Youth Development Counselors, providing both formal and observational feedback.
  • Design and implement professional development opportunities for staff through team meetings.
  • Respond to incidents by leading debriefing sessions and ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
  • Conduct investigations when necessary, documenting findings and collaborating with leadership on disciplinary matters.
  • Ensure 24/7 program coverage and act as the administrator on duty in the absence of senior management.
  • Participate in core team meetings and contribute to quarterly program discussions.
  • Engage with community partners and represent the organization professionally in all interactions.
  • Coordinate recreational activities for youth and supervise program staff.
  • Document group life reports and provide on-the-job training for staff.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and collaborate with social service staff for program updates.
  • Monitor staff performance and communicate training needs to the appropriate departments.
  • Implement established policies for effective problem-solving.
  • Promote the Sanctuary Model of trauma-informed care within the program.
  • Encourage the use of Sanctuary Model tools to foster a non-violent and trauma-sensitive environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with adolescents.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to a strength-based, youth and family development approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Willingness to complete state-mandated training for crisis intervention and medication administration.
  • Flexibility to work during varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
