Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with expertise in residential building upkeep to support the daily maintenance, repair, and efficient functioning of all building systems and equipment. The technician will oversee and execute all requested tasks, prioritize work, and ensure follow-up on job completion.

Classification:

Non-exempt (eligible for overtime); Non-Union

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on properties as required, including light plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, and minor electrical work.
  • Collaborate closely with the Property Manager/Superintendent to coordinate tasks effectively.
  • Schedule and coordinate with tenants to access apartments for repairs.
  • Efficiently manage incoming service requests.
  • Repair walkways and building exteriors as needed.
  • Document time and log activities for each completed job.
  • Complete renovation projects as necessary.
  • Deliver high-quality workmanship with a focus on detail.
  • Be available on-call to address tenant requests and issues.
Qualifications:
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety hazards and proper handling of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Possession of a reliable vehicle for travel to various job sites.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience with a proven track record in maintenance or as a handyperson.
  • Proficient and knowledgeable in construction and maintenance practices.
  • Able to perform a wide range of repairs, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with tenants and staff.
  • Proficient in using email, text messaging, and business applications.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle for travel to property locations.
  • Availability to work occasional Saturdays as needed.
  • Ownership of necessary tools for general maintenance tasks is a plus.
